Documentary series that shows how the legal system works from a citizen’s point of view. The viewer has a front row seat as cases are tried and judges observe plaintiffs and defendants. The whole of season 1 is set in the ghent palace of justice. In the course of the next six seasons, proceedings are filmed in courts all across the country.

Across all episodes, the viewer gets to see ten magistrates at work. All the magistrates have their own way of interacting with the defendants. They carefully consider the arguments, the tears and the excuses. What follows is sympathy for a hopeless situation, indignation at the committed offences or a stern talking-to.
